If you are furiously looking for guns, magazines or ammunition in the post 2012 election panic buying frenzy, ask yourself why. Are you really concerned about not being able to get something in the foreseeable future? If you are and you are genuinely concerned then you need to join or donate to a gun rights group.
For $50 you can make a big difference, but it’s not just the money. It’s also the level of concern you have and what you’re willing to contribute to the success of gun rights. A good example is the showing of solidarity on a legislative or administrative effort. Joining a pro-right to keep and bear arms group lends your voice to a genuinely good cause. If $50 is too rich for you, then at least become active locally, state-wide or join one of the many national RKBA organizations.
Don’t make excuses to not help. It’s easy to sit on the internet and semi-anonymously snipe at the NRA, SAF, CCRKBA, NAGR, GOA or all of the above. It’s equally easy to visit blogs & Facebook and comment on issues but forum and blog comments don’t change vote outcomes. Maybe one or more of these griyos doesn’t meet your strict idealogical purity test, or they are a sellout, or only in it for the money, or they don’t fully represent you. There is not a single organization that will agree with you 100% of the time, not even your family, but if you agree with a lot of what some of these groups represent, then consider helping them out in some way.
State right to keep and bear arms advocacy groups need your help too. If you are fortunate enough to live in a state with good firearms laws, it probably didn’t get that way by laziness or inaction. It won’t stay that way if our side does nothing but comment on blogs.
